Jubilee Housing and Monarc Construction Celebrate Community Murals in Adams Morgan
On Tuesday, September 15 at 4:30 p.m., Jubilee Housing, Monarc Construction, participating muralists, and community members will gather at 1630 Fuller Rd NW for a short neighborhood walk. This stroll around the block will feature 12 murals created by professional artists, Jubilee staff and residents, and community members.
Artists including Brandon Hill, Aneikan, Trap Bob, and Jah One designed and painted murals for the project, engaging residents and community members through two Jubilee Housing events. Additional artwork was created by Jubilee’s Youth and Resident Services, the Reentry team, Staff, Jubilee Farms, and a local Girl Scout troop.
“We believe that artwork around a construction site can beautify the neighborhood and give the community something uplifting to see as we preserve deeply affordable housing in Adams Morgan,” said Mark Bellingham, President of Monarc Construction. “Having so many murals completed and so many people involved has been exciting to watch.”
Jim Knight, President and CEO of Jubilee Housing, said the project’s greatest achievement has been bringing people together.
“To have Jubilee staff, residents, Supportive Services, Jubilee Farms, a Girl Scout troop, and so many professional artists give their time is the highlight of this project,” Knight said. “The art is great but seeing everyone come together and create a sense of community has been inspiring.”
Earlier this year, Jubilee Housing celebrated the ADMO Groundbreaking, marking the start of renovations to preserve six residential buildings, including two of Jubilee’s founding properties, The Mozart and The Ritz. Monarc Construction is leading the rehabilitation, with completion expected in early 2028.
The murals will remain along the construction site throughout the renovation.
