Aliya Rocker runs the Activity Zone Program, which serves third to sixth graders in the Jubilee Housing Community. A former volunteer with Good Shepherd, Aliya started working with Jubilee Youth Services shortly after it started in 2007. 

Aliya is from Lynn, Mass. She came to DC in 1999 to attend Howard University, where she received a Bachelor of Psychology degree with a minor in Anthropology. She is currently working towards a Master of Social Work at Howard.

Aliya first became interested in working with children from babysitting as a young teen and being a big cousin to many children. When she first applied for the job at Jubilee Housing, she says, she had decided that she needed a little more adventure in her life and thought working with kids again would provide that. After more than two years, the adventure continues.
