
Maya James, originally from Baltimore, MD, is currently a senior at Howard University in the Fine Arts department and a fellow of Texas A&M's summer creative writing workshops (
Callaloo). Ms. James is an artist who loves all mediums of writing and creative expression. Her poetry and short stories have been published in the
Minneapolis Liberator, and
Drum Voices Revue. Ms. James is also an award winning playwright and committed to using her artistry for change. As the new Teen program assistant, Maya enjoys working with young people and bearing witness to the discoveries that are uncovered as they mature. She also enjoys reading, cooking, acting, and recently painting. Maya is very excited and honored to be apart of the Jubilee family and is looking forward to growing with the community.
