Carol Martin is the youth services center director. She grew up in east Texas and attended Texas University and George Washington University. Always a very practical person, she majored in english literature with a specialty in medieval studies. She has been a member of the Church of the Saviour since 1970, and has worked with many CofS ministries, including Dag Hammarskjold College, Dunamis, The Alabaster Jar (none currently in operation).
In 1982 she moved with her late husband, Bud Wilkinson, a potter, to Dayspring and served as director of the Silent Retreat Center for 21 years. After Bud's death, Carol left Dayspring and served for a year as an Innkeeper at Samaritan Inns. In December 2005, she remarried to Jim Martin, a longtime friend. In September 2006 Carol began work at Good Shepherd Ministries and remained with GS until its closing. In her years at Dayspring she participated in the summer camps for Good Shepherd children and often invited the children to her home.
Carol loves poetry and until she came to work in the city was a member of a poetry group which grew out of a class at the Writer's Center. She has two daughters and five grandchildren. She greatly enjoys working with Jubilee children and their families.
