A Note From Jim

Jubilee Housing’s continued push up the long, steep hill toward justice housing brought us to new heights over the past three months, as we successfully closed out the new Justice Housing Partners Fund and earned recognition, for several key efforts, from the DC Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD), the DC Department of Energy and Environment-Pepco-New Partners Community Solar partnership and NBC 4 Washington, and the Housing Association of Nonprofit Developers (HAND).  Read more...

Back to School Store

As the summer winds down, parents and students start to turn their attention to the first day of school. Back to School season can be a time of great excitement as kids look forward to meeting their new classmates, seeing old friends, and getting to know their new teachers. This time can also be a time of anxiety for low-income families. Having to purchase book bags and other school supplies can be a heavy lift when money is already stretched thin. Read more...


Community Meeting

Jubilee Housing hosted a June community meeting for its Adams Morgan neighbors and elected representatives to share the organization’s vision for expanding justice housing in the neighborhood, including broadening Jubilee’s Reentry Housing Initiative. Read more...


NBC Backyard BBQ

On August 1, NBC 4 Washington Chief Meteorologist Doug Kammerer brought a barbecue and live weather reports to our new Maycroft apartments, as part of his summer 2019 Backyard Barbecue Reports.

Instead of being located in someone’s backyard, the barbecue was held in the front courtyard of the Maycroft apartments. Jubilee residents, staff, and board members enjoyed good food and camaraderie with colleagues from NP Community Solar and Martha’s Table. Read More...

Jubilee Housing Welcomes Chief Operating Officer 

Jubilee Housing is proud to announce the hiring of William Highsmith as the organization’s first chief operating officer (COO).

Highsmith brings over 18 years of experience in affordable housing and real estate to Jubilee’s team. Prior to joining Jubilee Housing, he served as the vice president and COO of the Greater Capital Area Association of Realtors, director of development for Enterprise Community Partners, and vice president at Jair Lynch Real Estate Partners. As the co-founder of the 100 Black Men of Greater Washington, D.C. chapter, he has continuously championed equity in opportunity for D.C.’s African-American youth. Read more...
