take action
Jubilee Housing takes an active role in advocating for affordable housing in the District. We are a member of the Fair Budget Coalition and we have joined protests for fair housing in front of the City Council.
In April of 2004, Executive Director Jim Knight and Bryan Adams went before the City Council to testify on behalf of the Affordable Housing Trust Fund. The Mayor originally wanted to cut $20 million out of the Fund to pay off city debt. Thanks to Jubilee and a host of other affordable housing advocates, the decision came back in May that $40.5 million would be allocated to the Fund for Fiscal Year 2005.
In March of 2005 Jubilee residents and staff again went to City Council to stand for the fund. They were told that the fund now has full backing by City Council.
If affordable housing issues are important to you, join Jubilee in our advocacy projects!
