Accounting Manager

Position Description:

Jubilee Housing is searching for an Accounting Manager.  Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting manager will be responsible for accounting related functions for the aspects of the mission that involve real estate development, asset management, property management and nonprofit accounting. Duties include general ledger management, account reconciliation, cash receipts processing, depreciation and accruals, investment accounting, restricted asset releases, security deposits, rent subsidy accounting, replacement reserve activity, accounts receivable collections, and month end closing process.

Specific Duties:

  • Manage the organization’s financial accounts, payrolls, budget, cash receipts and financial assets.
  • Financial reporting for JHI, all predevelopment activities and Justice Housing.
  • Perform the organization’s financial audits and assist with tax preparation including the IRS Form 990.
  • Produce monthly and year-end financial statements for JHI and assigned LP’s, including balance sheet, profit/loss statements, and accumulative general ledger using a computer-based accounting system.
  • Monitor and follow-up on receivables that have been outstanding for unusually long periods.
  • Track and reconcile intercompany transactions.
  • Produce invoices for real estate services for Partnership activities.
  • Ensure that all general ledger accounts are reconciled to subsidiary records on a monthly basis.
  • Work with the Grant Finance Specialist to ensure timely grant billing and grant reporting.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations and ensure that they are prepared properly and follow-up on any unusual items.
  • Assist with reviewing invoices and ensure proper setup of new vendors in Onesite.
  • Monitor reserve accounts for properties.
  • Monitor integration of property accounting with property management division.
  • Review filing of tax forms including 1099 Forms.
  • Reconcile bank and investment accounts, and prepare related journal entries.
  • Review Payroll transactions, pension, and tax deferred annuity plan deposits.
  • Prepare payroll reports including payroll journal entries.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Desired Qualifications:

  • This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, business administration or related field and/or minimum of ten years’ experience in accounting and/or finance, preferably with a non-profit real estate organization.
  • Significant experience in or knowledge in community development real estate finance.
  • Knowledge and understanding of OMB Circular A-133 audit
  • Experience with OneSite accounting system desired.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills, ability to pay attention to details and maintain confidentiality, strong interpersonal skills and commitment to working with a diverse staff are essential to successfully carry out the duties of this position.

Salary:

Targeted salary range of $80,000.00 – $92,000.00 commensurate with experience.
